Manuel got his new Florida drivers license today. I didn’t get mine because I have to wait for my SSN.
Manuel hat heute seinen neuen Florida Fuehrerschein bekommen. Ich leider noch nicht, da ich nach wie vor auf die SSN warten muss.
Today we went to Busch Gardens. Busch Gardens is a theme park with animals and lots of rides in Tampa. We were there for about 7.5 hours. Watched lots of animals, got wet a few times (yeah the water rides) and had lots of fun.
Heute waren wir in Busch Gardens. Busch Gardens ist ein Vergnuegungsparkt mit Tieren und vielen Fahrgeschaeften in Tampa. Wir waren fuer ca. 7.5 Stunden im Park unterwegs. Haben viele Tiere gesehen, sind ein paar Mal nass geworden (jepp, die Wasserrutsche) und wir hatten viel Spass.

Yesterday Norbert showed us around a little bit in the area where he lives. I like it here. We went to some stores to buy some stuff and afterwards we had a bbq at home with a very nice grill. The sausages tasted good as well as the Heineken beer. Today we will go to Busch Gardens in Tampa.
Gestern hat uns Norbert erst mal die Gegend um sein Haus gezeigt und wo wir was finden, wenn wir es dann mal brauchen sollten. Es ist echt nett hier. Alles in relativer Naehe zum Haus. WIr haben auch noch verschiedenes eingekauft und als wir wieder daheim waren gab es ein BBQ. Die Wuerstchen waren lecker ebenso wie das Heineken Bier. Heute wollen wir zu Busch Gardens in Tampa
We arrived in Florida yesterday evening. Norbert picked us up at the airport in Tampa. We had a couple of beers before we went to bed and now we will have breakfest.
Wir sind gestern gut in Florida angekommen. Norbert hat uns am Flughafen in Tampa abgeholt. Wir hatten noch ein paar Biere und jetzt fruehstuecken wir erstmal.
Today is our last day in Puerto Rico. We will leave tonight and go to Tampa, Florida then. Right now we enjoy the sun outside of the Internetcafe and later on I have to pack all my things. Yesterday I had a real american thanksgiving for the first time of my life. Including the whole turkey. :-) And yes, I liked the turkey.
Heute ist unser letzter Tag in Puerto Rico. Wir werden heute Abend nach Tampa, Florida fliegen. Im Moment geniessen wir die Sonne vorm Internetcafe. Irgendwann hetue mittag muss ich mal noch meine Sachen packen. Gestern war Thanksgiving and ich hatte zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben ein echte amerkanisches Thanksgiving - inclusive des ganzen Truthahns. :-) Und ja, er hat gut geschmeckt…
Palmas del Mar is a huge apartment complex on the east coast of Puerto Rico. Eileens sister got an apartment there and we went there for the day on Sunday. Most of the time we spent at the beach club. Manuel and I went swimming and I tried a few puerto rican food specialties. The complex is really big and beautiful. They have a golf course there and it is right next to the beach.
Palmas del Mar ist ein grosser Appartmentkomplex an der Ostkueste von Puerto Rico. Eileens Schwester hat dort ein Apartment und wir waren dort fuer den Sonntag. Die meiste Zeit haben wir im Beach Club verbracht. Manuel und ich waren schwimmen (super Pool) und ich hab verschiedene Puertorikanische Essenssachen probiert. Der Appartmentkomplex ist ziemlich gross und sehr schoen. Sie haben einen Golfkurs und es liegt direkt am Strand.

In Arecibo we went to the cemetry to visit the grave of some relatives. Afterwards we went to a nice beach restaurant where we had a late lunch. On the way back we stopped in Barecloneta at the factory outlets and I bought some nice shirts.
After we came back to Guaynabo Eileen and I went to Plaza las Americas - a big big shopping mall. We went to the big bookstore over there to get me some “I learn Spanish books”. I found a nice one for kids with pictures and the words in Spanish and English as well as some other books.
In Arecibo haben wir den Friedhof besucht auf dem Verwandte von Manuel liegen. Danach hatten wir einen spaetes Mittagessen in einem schoenen Strandrestaurant. Auf dem Weg zurueck nach Guaynabo haben wir bei Factory Outlets in Barceloneta angehalten. Ich hab dort einige schoene Shirts gefunden, die ich auch gleich mitgeholt habe.
Nachdem wir wieder in Guaynabo waren, sind Eileen und ich noch zu Plaza las Americas gefahren. Plaza las Americas ist eine grosse Einkaufsmall hier in San Juan. Ich wollte zu dem grossen Buchladen, damit ich mir endlich ein schoenes Buch zum Thema “Ich lerne Spanish” kaufen kann. Ich hab auch ein schoenes Kinderbuch entdeckt, in dem die Woerter in English und Spanish geschrieben sind und dann sind noch schoene Bilder nebendran. Ich hab mir auch noch 2 andere Buecher gekauft, die sind aber nicht fuer Kinder gedacht. :-) Sondern fuer Erwachsene.
We did not make it to the beach yesterday because it started to rain after we left Manuels friends house. Today we will go to Arecibo - a city west of San Juan. We will have lunch there in a very good restaurant. I do not know what else we will do there because they made the plans in Spanish. :-(
Bis zum Strand haben wir es gestern nicht mehr geschafft - nachdem wir Manuels Freunds Haus verlassen haben, hat es angefangen zu regnen. Heute fahren wir nach Arecibo - einer Stadt westlich von San Juan. Es ist geplant, dass wir dort zu Mittag essen in einen ziemlich guten Restaurant. Was wir sonst noch machen, hab ich mal wieder nicht mitbekommen, da die Plaene in Spanisch gemacht wurden. :-(
We are here in Puerto Rico for more than 2 days. We saw a few people of Manuels family and we went shopping a little bit. I got new flipflops and some anti-itch-cream for my mosquito bites. Yeah I got about 20 bites already but I killed the stupid mosquito yesterday. Hopefully there is not another one in the room tonight. Later today we will go to the beach.
Wir sind jetzt hier in Puerto Rico fuer mehr als 2 Tage. Wir haben einige Mitglieder von Manuels Familie besucht und wir waren etwas einkaufen. Ich hab neue Flipflops bekommen und eine Creme, die gegen Mosquitostiche hilft. Ich hab naemlich mehr als 20 Stiche abbekommen in den ersten beiden Naechten und die jucken etwas (viel). Diese eine Mosquitofliege hab ich gestern abend umgebracht und jetzt hoffe ich, dass keine andere mehr ins Zimmer kommt. Spaeter gehen wir noch zum Strand. *freu*
The flight from Frankfurt to Philadelphia was nice but long. Okay every 9 hour flight is long so it does not really count. After we left the plane we had to wait 1 hour at immigration before we even saw an officer. After that I needed to go to the secondary inspection and we missed our flight to Puerto Rico. The Airline was really nice and we got a hotel voucher and first class tickets for the next morning.
Der Flug von Frankfurt nach Philadelphia war ereignislos aber lang. Eigentlich klar, da 9 Stunden Fluege immer lang sind. Nachdem wir das Flugzeug verlassen hatten mussten wir eine Stunde bei der Immigration warten Nachdem wir dann mit dem Beamten gesprochen hatten, musste ich noch zu einer weiteren Person gehen. Leider hat das ganze so lange gedauert, dass wir unser Flugzeug nach Puerto Rico verpasst haben. Die Airline war aber super nett und so bekamen wir einen Hotelgutschein und First Class Tickets fuer den naechsten Tag.
Gleich geht es los in Richtung Flughafen und damit nach USA.
Meld mich von der anderen Seite des grossen Teichs wieder.

Yesterday wer had our good bye party and it is over now. We celebrated most of the night and the evening and it was really fun. This morning we cleaned everything up again and now we kind of ready to go. We still have to pack our bags and get some things done. But most of the stuff we needed to do is done.
I was in the cinema yesterday evening with my mom and my sister. We watched the movie Die Paepsting (English Pope Joan) and I liked the movie very much. Of course - the book is much better but in most cases it is like that.
We left Ramstein AirBase yesterday morning after we got out of the hotel room (TLF). Manuels final meeting was done earlier that day and we were on the way to Schwollen after that. Here we will stay the next few days until we fly out on Monday.
We went to Kapaun this morning and now Manuels car will be shipped to the States. We won’t see it for a few weeks but we will have it back before the year is over. Hopefully I will get to Florida without any problems… Now I got the job of driving Manuel around when ever he needs me because he can not drive my car.
Yesterday my Dad and I spent a lot of money on beer for the good bye party. We just bought 40 beer crates. :-) And no, we won’t drink all that at our party. At least I hope so.
Yesterday when we went to TLF we got a nice surprise. We got a hotel room at the KMCC as TLF. The room is very nice and we have free internet here. Cool thing. :-)
I am a bit busy today again. I went to different places on base to get some outprocessing stuff for Manuel done and later I will go to my Spanish lesson. I did not had a lot of time for studying in the last weeks but I hope it will be ok.
After we spend the weekend at my parents house we will go to TLF today. TLF is the temporary living on base but I have no clue what TLF stands for. I will meet Manuel over there later because he already left Schwollen to go to work. I will leave later with all the luggage we have here.
Hopefully we get a nice apartment with internet. I have no idea if they have internet over at TLF but I hope so. What should I do otherwise the whole day on base? Sitting in the library to surf the net? Don’t think I can stay there so long without problems… :-)

Hopefully I can invited the last people to our good bye party today. I already invited some but not all. It is a bit early to go around and knock on peoples doors so I will wait a bit longer before I start invite more people.
On Friday we turned our house over to our landlord. It wasn’t a big problem and it took about 20 minutes. Afterwards we were busy get some more stuff done before Manuel went back to work and I went to Schwollen.
