Melanie Does Life - get out the door :-)

I am a twenty-somthing girl that discovered a love for running in 2010. I ran my first half marathon in November 2011. Here you will find stuff about me, my life in FL, my running and whatever I feel like blogging.

Most of the time I will blog stuff in english and german. This way my folks in Germany can read everything as well. Thanks for visiting! I hope to see you again soon...

At the beginning of February I wrote my February goals during the Do Life Challenge. Now it is time to look back and see how it goes. I know there is one more day in February but tomorrow I will be busy. So I do it today.

  1. Continue running. Start a new training plan. I want to be able to run a 15K on March 3rd. Right now my longest run is 4 miles. A 15K is 9.3 miles. That is a 5.2 miles more than I can run right now. I did it before and I know I can do it again.

I started my new training plan on February 5. I kept up with it until last week. Then I got sick and wasn’t able to run. Been in bed for 3 days coughing, feverish and not feeling well. I am still coughing. Since I have the 15K coming up I thought to give myself another day off before starting training again. I even ran a 5K and broke my PR by 7 seconds. So I think, I can pass this a done. Check

  2. Goal: Run 3 times a week and start to add more miles to my runs.

    Managed to do this. Check.
  3. Lose weight. It did not work in January - here I go again.
Goal: Loose 4 lbs in February.

I lost 5 lbs during my sickness last week. I guess most of it was water weight since I had a fever. And of course this is not the way I would love to loos weigh. I gained some back and I am down 3 lbs total. Fail.
  4. Since it worked so well in January, I will continue not to drink soda at home. I am still allowed to enjoy it while away from home.
Goal: No soda at home in February.

I drank soda at home once. :-( I brought it into the house from outside, put it on the table and wanted to throw it out. But for some reason I grabbed the cup and drank a bit out of it. As soon as I realized what I was doing I stopped. I maybe had a sip or two at that time. But I will still consider this a success. First, I stopped myself. Second, I did keep going and said I screwed up once now I can do it again. No I keep to the no soda drinking at home rule. So I will mark it as: Check.
  5. I want to re-do my iPhoto library. I have 35,000 pictures in there and every now and then I have an error that pops up. It makes my library run sloppy. Changes things that are not supposed to change. Now I decided to export all my pictures and import them to a new library. But that also means that I will lose all my tagged faces, my location data, my keywords. I will have to re-do all that.
Goal: At the 1st of March I want to have 5,000+ pictures in my library with all the data (faces, places, keywords) added.

I added nearly 12.000 pictures. Nearly all pictures have the faces tagged and I still have to add places at maybe 200 pictures. I decided to add all pictures first before I start adding keywords. I still don’t have a good system in place and this will give me some time to think about it. So, another success. Check.
  6. Start doing meditation more regularly. It did work for the first 2 weeks of January, then I fell of the wagon.
Goal: Meditate for 3+ times a week for at least 20 minutes.

I did meditation. More than before but not for 20 minutes at the time. So I guess I did not meet this goal. Fail.

2 fail, 3 done. Not to bad but I could do better. In 2 days we have a new month. Time to think about new goals.
